A professional artist specializing in painting and drawing in a wide variety of styles and techniques, Paul's talent has been nurtured since early childhood and is a second generation artist. Most known for large scale paintings done for residential, commercial, corporate and public art. He is skilled at developing and rendering the ideas of clients. Completely mobile and enjoys traveling to new work sites. Respected educator who teaches a variety of classes in painting and drawing to children and adults. He inspires others in fun and exciting ways.

Public Art Work

  • “B.O.B. Bridges over Barriers” 2007, 2008. Public Art Project in Salt Lake City sponsored by Salt Lake Neighborhood Services, Utah Department Of Transportation, Utah Arts Council, and private citizens and businesses. It is a unique public art project that is creating giant mosaic murals on concrete columns and retaining walls of a large highway underpass. The work involves community participation at all levels. Paul is one of the original designers and is currently running a work-studies program for inner city youth. These young people are learning many skills and laying tile for the first columns. It is an ongoing project that will take several years to complete.
  • “Pleasant View Elementary School Mural Project” 2007. Commissioned by the Utah Arts Council. worked as designer and instructor for a fifty-foot mural painted in entranceway. Two hundred and thirty seven third and fourth graders participated. with his supervision and instruction.
  • Hamilton Alexandra College, Victoria, Australia, 2006. Commissioned to paint a large mural celebrating the 135th anniversary of the school. Students were given instruction and open access to visit the work in progress.
  • “Olympic Legacy Project” 2002. Commission awarded by the Salt Lake Olympic Committee. An Olympic legacy mural project was created for a public school. It depicts children on a gold podium surrounded by Olympic athletes.
  • “Chevrolet Olympic Legacy Project” 2002. Participating artist instructor in grant made available to the Kimball Art Center by the Chevrolet Corporation. The program involved seven different schools and 5,000 student participants. A large visual public art piece was made using the work of all students.
  • “Jordenelle State Park” 2001. Commission awarded by Utah State Parks. A large-scale natural history interpretive display was painted in their welcome center.
  • “Cultural Olympiad Youth Program” 2001. Grant awarded by the Salt Lake Olympic Committee. The project involved teaching 70 classes in mural painting to 130 students at 3 different schools. These students produced thirteen murals four by eight feet in size. These Olympic decorations were the only ones made by community children. The work received national TV coverage on the NBC today show during the Olympics.
  • “Youth Advisory Board Grant” 2001. A grant awarded by the Park City Municipal Corporation. This money was used as matching funding.
  • “Art in Public Places” 2000. Commission awarded by the Park City/ Summit County Arts Council. An 800 square foot mural was painted in a pedestrian tunnel. It depicted a turn of the century Silver Mine. Volunteer apprentices were welcomed from the community. This work is a unique cultural tourist attraction that has received a great deal of positive feedback.
  • “Project Leader for Public Art Project” 1999. Commission awarded by The Park City Municipal Corporation. This was the largest mural painted in Utah. It was painted on an entire city block. 130 by 35 feet. About 20 volunteer apprentices were recruited from pedestrian traffic.
  • “Awarded Commission” 1997. Commission awarded from the Mulewa Municipal Government, Western Australia, 1997. A 40 by 8 foot mural, painted on panels and than installed on the side of a public building. The work depicted a local historical event that was described in a 1937 newspaper article.
Artist Residencies

  • Colby School Mural Project, Park City, Utah, 2007. The Colby School is a private non-profit school. The school was awarded a grant by the Utah arts Council to Hire Paul as an Artist in Residence. Paul gave classes and instruction to the entire school starting with preschool all the way to middle. They worked together to paint 4 large murals. Three of them depicted different Utah ecosystems, wetlands, desert and alpine. These measured 4 by 16 each. The fourth mural was 40 by 10 foot and depicted colorful circus performers. This work was used for a creative movement performance.
  • South Summit Elementary, Kamas, Utah, 2006. Took part in an artist residency grant program for a single 4th grade class about 30 students received 40 hours of instruction in drawing, design and painting. A public opening was held for students, teachers and parents.

  • Discovery Elementary School Brigham City, Utah, 2005. Residency made available by the Utah Arts Council. Classes were taught to the entire 4th grade. A large 4-wall library mural was painted with the help of all 75 students.
  • Century Elementary School in Bear River, Utah, 2005. Residency made available by Utah Arts Counsel. The residency involved teaching classes to the entire 4th and 5th grade and painting a large mural with 60 student participants.
  • Escalante’s Elementary School, Salt Lake City, 2003. Eight after school classes were taught in preparation for painting a large interior mural in a school hallway. The work celebrated native animals of the world.
  • Windy Ridge, Elementary School, Kaysville, Utah, 2003. Residency made available by the he Utah Arts Council. Thirty-two classes were taught in drawing and painting techniques to the 4th grade. A 2- hour teacher’s seminar was also given.
  • Cooke Elementary, Cooke, Utah, 2002. Residency made available by the Utah Arts Council made funding available. It was a follow up from the year before with the same students now in the sixth grade. Classes were taught to the entire class and than twelve motivated students were chosen to paint a large-scale outside mural depicting Utah natural history.
  • Cooke elementary school 2001. Residency made available by the Utah Arts Council. Taught the entire Fifth grade 2 weeks of daily classes in painting and drawing and held a 2 hour seminar for teachers.
  • Oakley School, Oakley Utah, 2001. Residency in a private high school for youth at risk. This was a six- week artist residency program. Students were given formal classes in painting and painted a large mural celebrating diversity.
